The Four Acquired for Portuguese Remake

SP Entertainment has licensed Armoza Formats’ singing competition The Four for a local adaptation in Portugal.

The Four follows four talented singers pre-vetted by a panel of music industry judges as they battle newcomers who are looking to steal their coveted spots. Challengers can apply through the show’s app, and, should they unseat one of “the four,” stand a chance to be crowned the winner at the end of the final four battle.

The U.S. adaptation of the format, The Four: Battle for Stardom, received the Best Talent Show award at the National Film and TV Awards earlier this month.

“We are thrilled to be bringing this great format to Portugal,” said Piethein Bakkar, managing director of SP Productions. “We believe that The Four is ideal for the Portuguese market as it is one of the few talent shows that truly brings tension and drama from the first episode!”

Avi Armoza, the CEO of Armoza Formats, added: “We are honored by the international recognition of The Four—marked by the acquisitions in new territories such as Portugal, as well as the Best Talent Show award from the National Film and TV Awards.”
