Production Begins on MTV’s Ex on the Beach Brazil: Celebs

A new celebrity version of MTV’s Ex on the Beach franchise, titled Ex on the Beach Brazil: Celebs, has begun production and is slated for a late 2019 debut.

The new 12×60-minute series will premiere on MTV Brazil and across Latin America on Amazon Prime Video at the end of this year. It is being produced by Viacom International Studios (VIS).

Set in the idyllic town of Trancoso on Brazil’s southern coast, the show follows 12 celebrities as they attempt to find love. However, there will be trouble in paradise when the celebrities’ exes begin to appear one by one on the island. These participants are subjected to the foul mood of the dreaded “Terror Tablet,” which promises to prove even more provocative and challenging than ever before.

Ex on the Beach Brazil: Celebs is set to feature guest appearances by Brazilian singer and songwriter Pabllo Vittar and Brazilian musical artist Vitor Kley, as well as MC Rebecca, Leo Picon, Hana Khalil, Tulio Rocha, Cinthia Cruz, Fábio Beltrão, Rafaela Porto and Flávio Nakagima, alongside reality veterans Stefanie Bays, Any Borges, Gui Araújo and Lipe Ribeiro.

Since its launch in 2014, Ex on the Beach has become MTV International’s most widely travelled and locally adapted show, with 15 local versions created across the globe for MTV channels (the U.K., U.S., Netherlands, Poland, Brazil, Italy, Mexico) and third parties (Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, France, Russia, Hungary). Earlier this month, MTV International also commissioned a new celebrity version titled Celebrity Ex on the Beach, which will be produced by Whizz Kid Entertainment and will air next year across MTV’s network of international channels spanning 180 countries.

“It is a pleasure to continue developing and producing high-quality content for streaming services like Prime Video,” said Federico Cuervo, senior VP and head of VIS. “As we continue to establish ourselves as the leading studio in the development and production of content to be distributed around the world.”

Tiago Worcman, senior VP of MTV in Latin America, said: “Ex on the Beach is a hugely successful international MTV format with local hit versions made all around the world. I am thrilled to be working with Amazon Prime Video to add even more buzz to this special edition made in Brazil with local celebrities.”

“Prime Video is focused on seeking out and bringing customers across Latin America new, compelling and entertaining content for a wide range of audiences,” said Pablo Iacoviello, Latin America head of content for Amazon Prime Video. “Ex on the Beach is a great series that has created a following of fans everywhere it has launched, and we’re excited to see our customers join this fan base when the series premieres on Prime Video later this year.
