Prime Video Germany Renews The Fifty

Prime Video in Germany has commissioned a second season of the reality competition show The Fifty, produced locally by EndemolShine Germany and Rainer Laux Productions.

The local version ranked number one in the Prime Video charts in Germany at the time of its launch. Over the course of 16 episodes, 50 German reality stars will once again compete in the Game Masters’ challenges for the life-changing jackpot prize that will be gifted to one of their followers.

Banijay’s The Fifty now boasts three international iterations. Season two in France returned last year on W9, outperforming season one on nearly all demos and continued its digital success on streaming service 6Play. Telemundo greenlit a second run from EndemolShine Boomdog after ranking as the network’s most-watched program within the U.S. Hispanic market.

Philip Pratt, head of German originals at Prime Video, said: “Throughout the 14 episodes of the first season of The Fifty, our viewers enthusiastically followed and rooted for the participants, reveling in the reality drama. We look forward to relaunching the entertainment spectacle with season two, featuring even more episodes, more challenges and, undoubtedly, more drama.”

Rainer Laux, managing director at Rainer Laux Productions and executive director of EndemolShine Germany, said: “Prime Video’s commission of a second series demonstrates the show’s universal popularity. With its unique fan-engagement feature, it is a brilliant addition to Germany’s entertainment slate, and we look forward to continuing to delight viewers with the show’s fiercely competitive and thrilling challenges.”
