Operation: Live, which broadcasts life-changing operations live in their entirety, is going to be remade in Australia.

ITV Studios (ITVS) Australia is remaking The Garden’s Operation: Live for Channel Seven. The two-night event will give audiences the chance to witness open-heart surgery and the birth of a baby in real time with a multicamera set up. It will feature expert commentary from local cardiothoracic surgeon Dr. Nikki Stamp. The Australian version of the format is coming on the heels of its successful run on Channel 5 in the U.K.

“This event will give audiences a front row seat to a fascinating world that’s normally off limits,” said Angus Ross, Channel Seven’s director of programming. “When the format aired in the U.K., social media was flooded with questions and overwhelming praise for the medical teams involved with people completely in awe of what they had seen.”

Ross added: “Working with ITVS Australia and some of Australia’s top-tier hospitals and their elite surgeons, we’re privileged to present this innovative experience for Australian audiences.”
