Dori Media Group has sold and renewed its unscripted format Power Couple in a number of territories, including Brazil, Germany and India.
Created by Abot Hameiri, Power Couple has original versions in more than 20 territories globally, with 60-plus seasons and over 900 episodes produced. The show is set to debut its seventh season in Brazil this May on Record TV in prime time, where it will air seven days a week, be simulcast on a digital platform and also be available via live streaming.
A second season is in development in India with Aarambh Entertainment. In Germany, a new version of the format, which will be known locally as Das Sommerhaus der Normalos, will run on RTL+ during the first quarter of the year. RTL has had nine seasons of the celebrity version of Power Couple in Germany, where the series goes by the title Das Sommerhaus der Stars.
In Hungary, the series is set to launch its ninth season for RTL this summer. There’s a sixth season coming in Bulgaria on NOVA TV and a fifth in Croatia on RTL. Power Couple has also been renewed for a third season by POP TV in Slovenia.
Power Couple has been a hit on Videoland in the Netherlands last year, airing as a celebrity edition in its first season. New editions are expected in Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Norway. In Romania, the second season of the series on Antena aired across 24 episodes.
“We always believed Power Couple had all of the elements to be a successful global format, but we are truly thrilled with the reception that this series is now receiving across such a wide array of nations, both big and small,” said Nadav Palti, CEO and president of Dori Media Group. “The format, which is available in both celebrity and non-celebrity editions, resonates with local viewers whether it features celebrities or not, and the thirst for more episodes of Power Couple has become nearly insatiable in many territories.”
