Mitre Studios has named Talkback alum and BBC commissioning editor Ed Sleeman as managing director.

Sleeman will lead the team and drive content opportunities across multiple platforms and genres. Prior to joining Mitre Studios, Sleeman co-founded and served as joint managing director of Great Scott Media. Before Great Scott, he held the position of managing director of Talkback and was a commissioning editor for entertainment at the BBC.

Mitre Studios was founded in 2011 by Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly—better known as Ant and Dec. Its credits include DNA Journey, Limitless Win, In For a Penny, I’m a Celebrity South Africa, The Story of SM:TV Live, ITV’s family entertainment hit Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway and one-off documentary Behind the Screens.

Sleeman said: “I am thrilled to be joining Mitre Studios during such an exciting phase for the company. I was drawn to the job by the vision and tremendous ambition outlined by Ant and Dec. Their aspirations to expand the company’s footprint as both an originator and producer of global formats, alongside becoming a prolific producer of digital and branded content, resonated with me deeply. I can’t wait to get started and contribute to this inspiring vision.”

Donnelly said: “We have admired Ed’s work from afar for a long time, and we’re so pleased to be bringing him on board at this really exciting time for Mitre Studios. He shares the same passion for television and digital content as we do and will be a fantastic leader for our team.”

McPartlin said: “Ed brings a wealth of knowledge and experience with him and will be an invaluable asset as we move into the next stage of Mitre’s evolution as a provider of amazing, ambitious and joyful TV and digital content.”
