Media Ranch has closed several format deals in French-speaking Canada and Europe, including one with Germany’s Imago TV for Big Love.

Big Love follows three overweight couples for eight months while they try to ditch their bad habits and their extra pounds to rekindle the spark, demonstrating how weight fluctuation can impact relationships. Judge for One Day was also sold in Germany (SEO Entertainment/Fish Will Wurm), as well as in France (Banijay France), the Netherlands (Tuvalu), the U.K. (RDF Television) and Flemish Belgium. The first French Belgian episode aired on RTL in November. The social-experiment program sees judgment of a crime by eight ordinary people who sit in the judge’s chair for a day.

Additionally, Manipulator was sold into French Canada (Productions Desferlantes). Manipulator is a sociological program exploring how humans are easily manipulated. The show employs experiments, scientific data and brain research to demonstrate the premise.

180 Days was also sold in French Canada to Productions Mustang; Talpa Germany has acquired the rights and, in the Netherlands, the rights are optioned by Tuvalu Media. The social-experiment program asks participants to walk in each other’s shoes. In season one, five university students attempt to find out what getting old is truly like by living side by side with senior citizens in a nursing home for six months.

Verdict on Demand was sold in Poland to Rochstar, and the rights for France belong to Monsieur France Television. In this program, a well-known judge and a charismatic host solve neighbor disputes and deep-rooted legal conflicts in only 12 hours. Additionally, in France, Monsieur France Television has the rights to Legal House Call, a spin-off of Verdict on Demand.

Big Love, Judge for One Day, Manipulator and 180 Days are originally from the Danish broadcaster/producer DR. Media Ranch acquired the entire DR catalog earlier this year.

Media Ranch Founder, President and Executive Producer Sophie Ferron said: “Following the recent, major success for our hot new format Watch!, Media Ranch continues to drive format partnership deals. We are especially pleased to round out the year with such a robust slate of sales and Media Ranch continues to enhance our portfolio with the best formats in the world, we are known as the go-to company for content creators, producers, and broadcasting platforms—attracting and fostering the best talent in the world.”
