CBS Network is developing The Last Happy Couple, a new scripted comedy series that is an adaptation of the popular Israeli format La Famiglia.

To be produced by CBS Television Studios in association with Fulwell 73 and Anonymous Content, The Last Happy Couple will be written and executive produced by Liz Astrof. The original series, produced by United Studios of Israel, follows the lives of a suburban family living in the divorce capital of the country, with their therapy sessions—ranging from such topics as sex lives, best friends and in-laws—centering the storylines.

Distributed by Armoza Formats, the third Israeli season of La Famiglia aired on Channel 13 this year while the Indian adaptation of the format (locally titled Mind the Malhotras) began streaming on Amazon Prime Video. The format has also found success in Cyprus, where the second season just premiered.

Sharon Levi, head of sales at Armoza Formats, said: “We are very excited to be collaborating with such an amazing group to bring this hilarious show to the U.S. CBS feels like the natural home for a family comedy like La Famiglia and with her extensive experience, Liz Astrof is the perfect writer for the project.”
