Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution (TCFTVD) has licensed How I Met Your Mother for a local adaptation in China, while Last Man Standing is being remade in India and Vietnam.

How I Met Your Mother has been sold as a scripted format to New Classics Media, which will produce 30 hour-long episodes. This marks the first deal between TCFTVD and New Classics Media, and the division’s third format sale for How I Met Your Mother, which has already been adapted locally in Russia and the Middle East.

Star in India scored the rights for a local adaptation of Last Man Standing with Shashi Sumeet Productions. The scripted format for Last Man Standing is also being produced locally in Vietnam. Vietnam Film Company is producing the show, which is broadcast by Vietnam Television.

TCFTVD licensed the scripted format of the procedural fantasy drama Awake to Star Media in Russia. The adaptation will air on Channel One and star Evgeniy Mironov in the lead role.

“We are thrilled to expand the brands of these established U.S. comedies and dramas internationally with our scripted formats business,” said Gina Brogi, president of global distribution at Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution. “The success and demand we continue to see for our scripted formats is a reflection of the increased value of local content, and the growing sophistication of international broadcasters and production companies who are custom-tailoring great content for their audiences.”
