Eureka Productions Taps Unscripted TV Veteran Sonya Wilkes

Eureka Productions has named Sonya Wilkes, an alum of Beyond Productions and Seven Network Australia, as chief content officer.

Wilkes will work between Eureka’s Los Angeles and Sydney offices and will lead the expansion of the company’s slate across the U.S. and Australian markets.

Eureka’s current slate includes returning hits The Floor (FOX, Nine Network), Farmer Wants a Wife (FOX, Seven Network), The Quiz with Balls (FOX), Australian Idol (Seven Network) and Amazing Race Australia (Network Ten), as well as upcoming shows The Golden Ticket (Netflix) and international music competition KPOPPED (Apple TV+).

Wilkes joins Eureka from U.S. producer Beyond Productions, where she co-created, produced and developed series for major networks and streaming platforms, including Peacock, FOX, ABC, Hulu and TBS. This includes serving as executive producer on Love Undercover, the 10×1-hour relationship reality series for Peacock, as well as Back in the Groove for Hulu and Pooch Perfect for ABC. Prior to her transition to the U.S. market in 2020, Wilkes had a prominent career at the Seven Network Australia, with senior leadership roles including head of unscripted, head of development, executive producer and network executive.

Wilkes will report directly to CEO Rikkie Proost, who was recently promoted, with company founders Chris Culvenor and Paul Franklin transitioning to lead their new creative venture Eureka Studios, which will devise and develop new content for Fremantle companies worldwide.

“Sonya’s extensive experience across both the U.S. and Australian markets makes her a perfect fit to spearhead the growth of Eureka’s international slate,” said Proost. “Her leadership will be instrumental in driving creative innovation and delivering world-class content to our partners.”

“Eureka has an exceptional track record as one of the most innovative and prolific unscripted producers in the marketplace, and I am truly excited to step into this role,” said Wilkes. “I’m looking forward to working with Rikkie and the talented teams in both the U.S. and Australia to further elevate that success, creating bold, high-impact shows that resonate with audiences across platforms.”
