Endemol Shine’s The Wall Being Adapted in Canada

Quebecor Content has signed an agreement with Endemol Shine Group to produce a local version of the game-show format The Wall for broadcast in prime time on TVA in French Canada.

The Wall is an original U.S. format created by LeBron James, Maverick Carter and Andrew Glassman, and executive produced by Glassman Media and SpringHill Entertainment in association with Universal Television Alternative Studio. The show sees contestants answer questions and bounce balls on a giant wall for the chance to win a cash price. It is currently airing on NBC in the U.S. and TF1 in France, with Spanish and German treatments to come.

Lisa Perrin, Endemol Shine’s CEO of Creative Networks, noted: “The Wall is an extraordinary format which has become a breakout hit in the U.S. and France, where it continues to deliver huge audiences for both NBC and TF1.

With local German and Spanish versions currently in production, this new deal with Quebec Content underscores the huge potential for the international market; The Wall truly has pan-global appeal.”

Yann Paquet, the VP of acquisitions and international development at Quebecor Content, added: “We are very excited to have inked a deal for the most popular game show in the world. It gets monster ratings wherever it’s aired and we have absolute confidence it will thrill our viewers and touch their hearts.”
