Dori Media Format Dumb Travels to Mexico

TEL AVIV: Dori Media Group has licensed the crime drama Dumb to TV Azteca in Mexico, marking the show’s first international format sale.

Dumb centers on a 30-year-old actress posing as a high school student in order to help her ex-boyfriend, who was arrested for dealing drugs. The first season of 60 episodes is slated for broadcast in prime time next year. The original series is produced by Dori Media Darset for HOT in Israel.

Nadav Palti, the CEO of Dori Media Group, remarked: “Dumb has tremendous potential to deliver excellent ratings for TV Azteca. It is a contemporary, fresh and unique urban format that can take place anywhere: in Tel Aviv, in Mexico City or in Tokyo. The crime drama has been a tremendous hit in Israel, having been viewed by 46 percent of HOT cable subscribers, with a second and third [season] already committed to. Broadcasters are looking for unique and outstanding TV content to meet viewers’ increasingly discerning tastes and demand [for] cinematic quality. I have no doubt that Mexican viewers will tune in to Dumb in high volumes.”
