LONDON: ABC Studios has commissioned a pilot script based on the Spanish format Motivos Personales after nabbing the rights from New Media Vision.

Calamity Jane Productions is set to co-produce the U.S. adaptation of the thriller, which centers on a news anchor who sees her husband arrested for murder live during an evening newscast. Carlos Vila and Javier Holgado created the original series for Boomerang TV and Telecinco Spain. Andy Stern will rework the script for ABC.

“I am thrilled to be working with Andy, Calamity Jane and ABC Studios on adapting Motivos Personales for ABC,” said Todd Lituchy, the CEO of New Media Vision. “It is a fantastic project with huge potential to entertain and captivate audiences.”

“We are proud that our boutique company has created a name for itself identifying global content with universal adaptation appeal,” said Michelle Mian, New Media Vision’s director of international development and production. “We hope to continue to build on this success.”
