When Hope Calls Returning to Super Channel

Super Channel has ordered more episodes of When Hope Calls, the spin-off sequel to Janette Oke’s book series and the TV show When Calls the Heart.

Season one of the show aired in 2019, followed by two one-hour Christmas episodes in 2021. The series tells the story of two sisters who open an orphanage in the 1916 Western frontier town of Brookfield while contending with the traditions of cattle ranchers and the ambitions of a growing town on the brink of change.

In the second season, the show will follow the romance of Lillian and Mountie Gabriel and meet new characters who are important for the orphanage and children.

Joining the cast for season two are Cindy Busby (Crown Prince of Christmas), Christopher Russell (Reacher, A Lot Like Christmas), Mountie Michael Fletcher and Nick Bateman (A Christmas Miracle with Daisy). Returning cast members include Wendy Crewson (Tracker), Morgan Kohan (Sullivan’s Crossing), Ryan-James (RJ) Hatanaka (Criminal Minds) and Hanneke Talbot (Star Trek).

When Hope Calls is distributed by All Canadian Entertainment and produced by David Anselmo at Hideaway Pictures. Don McBrearty is the director, and Alfonso H Moreno is the showrunner and writer. Production began this month in Powassan, Ontario, and the series is set to premiere in Canada on Super Channel Heart & Home in the first quarter of 2025. It will air in the U.S. on Great American Family.

“Janette Oke’s captivating pioneer-era world has a special place in the hearts of fans across Canada, who have eagerly awaited season two,” said Don McDonald, president and CEO of Super Channel. “We’re excited to welcome viewers back to the charming town of Brookfield, where the townspeople will experience love, hope, and new challenges on the western frontier.”
