Victoria Leads ITVS GE Scripted Highlights

LONDON: ITV Studios Global Entertainment is bringing more than 50 hours of returning scripted series to MIPTV, alongside brand-new highlights, led by Victoria.

The Mammoth Screen show for ITV and PBS stars Jenna Coleman as Queen Victoria, following her from her ascension to the throne through to her marriage to Prince Albert. It will be previewed to buyers at the MIPDrama Screenings on April 3.

 “Our international scripted slate for MIPTV is headlined by a drama with a fantastic pedigree,” said Maria Kyriacou, the president of international at ITV Studios. “Victoria is made by Mammoth Screen, the producers of the global smash-hit drama Poldark, created and written by acclaimed novelist Daisy Goodwin and tells the story of a largely unknown period in the life of one of the most fascinating monarchs in history through gripping story lines, a stellar cast and high production values. Together with the exciting array of other high quality new and returning dramas on our slate, we have something to appeal to audiences across the globe at this market.”

Other new product includes the ITV commissions Brief Encounters, about the women who founded the Ann Summers lingerie chain in the 1980s; Tutankhamun, focused on the discovery of the tomb by Howard Carter in 1905; and HIM, a contemporary horror drama.

Also on offer will be the CBC series Shoot the Messenger, the BBC Two comedy Mum and the Channel 4 dramedy Crashing.

Returning shows include Rectify (season four), Endeavour (season three) and the second seasons of Home Fires, Poldark, Aquarius, Shetland, Schitt’s Creek and Raised By Wolves.

The motoring-based entertainment series Drive leads the format slate, while factual highlights include Fierce, featuring naturalist Steve Backshall.
