UNIVERSAL CITY: Universal Cable Productions (UCP) has signed a multiyear overall deal with writer Andy Parker, with work set to begin immediately on two projects.

One of the shows is being made for NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment and the other for an external network. Parker’s credits include Stanistan, which was shot as a pilot for USA Network in 2014, and The Disgraces, which was developed at HBO.

Dawn Olmstead, executive VP of development at UCP, noted, “Andy is one of the most talented writers in the business and we’re delighted to have him join the UCP family. His provocative and memorable characters and story lines resonate with viewers because they touch on the common struggle of finding one’s place in the world.”

“I’m thrilled to have found a home at UCP,” said Parker. “From day one, I’ve been impressed by their willingness to nurture and champion emerging voices.”
