HONG KONG: The fantasy drama Goblin, marking the return of popular Korean actor Gong Yoo to television after four years, is set to air on Turner Asia Pacific’s Oh!K channel.

Turner acquired all rights for the series from the production house Studio Dragon for Hong Kong, Macau, the Philippines, Brunei, Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore. The channel will broadcast the fantasy drama within 24 hours of its Korean premiere.

Launching December 3, Goblin is written by Kim Eun Sook and directed by Lee Eung Bok, the same team behind the hit Descendants of the Sun. Gong Yoo, most recently seen in the feature film Train to Busan, plays a goblin looking for a human bride to end his immortality.

“Throughout 2016, Oh!K has gone from strength to strength—becoming home to the very best in Korean entertainment,” said Marianne Lee, Turner’s VP of general-entertainment content. “Series such as W-Two Worlds, Shopaholic Louis and the ever-popular variety show Infinite Challenge have recently been real rating-winners for the channel. Now with the acquisition of Goblin, Oh!K has secured one of the highest profile dramas of the year. It has an eye-catching cast with a hugely talented production crew, and Korean drama fans are in for a real treat.”

In addition to Goblin, Turner holds full syndication and broadcast rights for the drama Saimdang across all platforms in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and Brunei. That show premieres in 2017.
