The X-Files Debuts Strong for FOX

LOS ANGELES: The X-Files made its highly anticipated return to TV on FOX on Sunday night, launching with 16.2 million total viewers and a 6.1 rating.

The Sunday debut got a strong lead-in from the night’s broadcast of the NFC Championship football game. The X-Files made its regular time-slot premiere on Monday night, garnering 9.7 million total viewers and a 3.2 rating, making it the highest-rated broadcast program of the night.

The show originally premiered in September 1993 and was a cult sci-fi favorite. The new event series sees David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson reprise their iconic roles as Agent Fox Mulder and Agent Dana Scully.
