Actors Sophie Cookson and Ben Miles spoke to TV Drama about the challenges of playing characters based on real people in The Trial of Christine Keeler, while screenwriter Amanda Coe shared what research went into bringing a fresh perspective to the Profumo scandal.

Coming soon to BBC One, the six-part drama The Trial of Christine Keeler takes viewers behind the headlines of a real-life scandal to examine the human stories of those involved. Written by BAFTA Award-winning novelist and screenwriter Coe (Apple Tree Yard, Room at the Top, Life in Squares), the series takes a look at the chain of events involved in what became known as the Profumo affair.

Cookson (Kingsman: The Secret Service, Gypsy, Red Joan) stars in the title role as Christine Keeler, the 19-year-old who was caught in the middle of a story involving sexual and cultural politics. Miles (The Capture, The Crown, The Last Post) plays British politician John Profumo, known more commonly as Jack. The drama, set in 1960s Britain, is distributed by Keshet International, alongside Endeavor Content in the U.S.
