Paramount+ has renewed The Envoys (Los Enviados), its best performing Spanish-language scripted series in the U.S., for a second season.

The action thriller follows two priests who are sent to Mexico to verify a clergyman’s alleged miraculous healings. When they arrive in Mexico City, however, they discover that the priest has gone missing. All eight episodes of season one are available on Paramount+ now.

The series’ cast includes Luis Gerardo Méndez (Narcos: Mexico, Charlie’s Angels), Miguel Ángel Silvestre (Narcos, Sense8), Irene Azuela (Sense8) and Miguel Rodarte (Narcos: Mexico).

Produced and directed by Juan José Campanella (The Secret in Their Eyes), The Envoys is written by Leandro Calderone, Emanuel Diez and Campanella. In addition to being the best performing Spanish-language series on the platform in the U.S., the series had the strongest streaming performance across all international titles that debuted on Paramount+ U.S.

Filming for season two is set to begin in September.
