The Durrells Returning for Season Four

ITV has commissioned the Corfu-set drama The Durrells for a fourth season.

From Sid Gentle Films, the series is based on conservationist and author Gerald Durrell’s trilogy of books about his family’s time in Corfu during the 1930s. The fourth season will be once again written by Simon Nye (Men Behaving Badly, Reggie Perrin). Keeley Hawes (The Missing, Line of Duty) will reprise her role as matriarch Louisa Durrell for the new six-part season.

Sally Woodward Gentle, founder of Sid Gentle Films, said: “We couldn’t be more delighted to be making more of The Durrells with our exceptional team and on the magical island of Corfu—it is a dream come true.”

ITV’s senior drama commissioner, Victoria Fea, added: “The Durrells has proven immensely popular with viewers and critics alike, so we’re thrilled to have commissioned another series. Simon Nye’s writing is witty, big-hearted and hugely engaging, so we’re looking forward to seeing what the fourth series has in store.”
