The Chelsea Detective Returning for Second Season

Acorn TV has slated the debut of The Chelsea Detective season two for August 28, with new episodes dropping weekly.

The second season consists of four feature-length episodes, which see Detective Inspector Max Arnold team up with new colleague Detective Sergeant Layla Walsh. Adrian Scarborough (Killing Eve, The King’s Speech, 1917) reprises his role as Arnold, and Vanessa Emme (Bloodlands, A Discovery of Witches) joins as Walsh.

Alongside Scarborough, other returning cast members are Sophie Stone (Shetland), Lucy Phelps (Grace), Peter Bankolé (Peaky Blinders), Anamaria Marinca (Deadline) and Frances Barber (Whitstable Pearl). Guest stars include Rachael Stirling (Hollington Drive) and Simon Williams (EastEnders).

The Chelsea Detective is created and executive produced by Emmy Award-winning Peter Fincham (The Lost Prince, Smack the Pony, I’m Alan Partridge). The four episodes of season two are written by Glen Laker (Vera, Prime Suspect), Fincham, Liz Lake (Riviera, Call the Midwife) and Laura Poliakoff (Devils). Richard Signy (Death in Paradise, Silent Witness) and Sarah Esdaile (Call the Midwife) direct.

The British crime drama is produced by Acorn TV’s Acorn Media Enterprises, Germany’s ZDF and BBC Studios’ Expectation. Acorn TV serves as the exclusive home of the series in the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Australia and New Zealand, among others. BBC Studios distributes the show internationally.
