BAFTA winner Joe Wright (Darkest Hour, Atonement, Cyrano) has joined the Sky original drama series M. Son of the Century, about Benito Mussolini’s rise to power, as director.

Production has begun on Fremantle’s Without Blood adaptation, with Angelina Jolie writing and directing and Salma Hayek Pinault (Frida, Eternals, House of Gucci) starring.

Sky has commissioned M. Son of the Century, based on Antonio Scurati’s best-selling novel that chronicles the birth of fascism in Italy and Benito Mussolini’s rise to power.
