LONDON: The Tom Hardy-led drama Taboo and the psychological thriller Apple Tree Yard are the first of a new run of box sets on BBC iPlayer.

All episodes of each show will remain available on iPlayer until the last episode is broadcast on air. The full series will then be available to watch as a box set for 30 days. BBC is planning to offer more series as box sets on iPlayer as well.

The first episode of Taboo achieved consolidated viewing figures of 7 million and received more than 3 million requests on BBC iPlayer. The full eight-episode box set will be available from February 25. Apple Tree Yard’s first episode had consolidated viewing figures of 7 million and 2 million requests on BBC iPlayer, with the full four-episode box set available from today.

Dan Taylor-Watt, the head of BBC iPlayer, said: “Taboo and Apple Tree Yard have both been huge hits on TV and on BBC iPlayer. Now viewers will be able to enjoy them as full box sets—and we want to do the same for more shows in the future. It’s giving viewers what they want—and it’s just the start of what we can do to ensure BBC iPlayer is the U.K.’s number one online TV service.”
