SVT Names New Drama Head

STOCKHOLM: Swedish public broadcaster SVT has appointed Anna Croneman as its new program director for drama and film, effective February 2017.

Croneman joins SVT from Avanti Film. Her previous production credits include The Crown Princess and Queen Sacrifice. At SVT she succeeds Christian Wikander, who last month joined Pinewood Television to head its co-production activities.

“It is a very exciting time for TV-drama, a time with many new challenges for both channels, creators and production companies,” Croneman said. “Of course, this also means many new amazing opportunities for development and change. SVT’s role as producer in the media landscape ahead has never been more important.”

She added, “My first task will be to listen to creators, writers, directors and producers. Together we must become better at meeting the expectations of a more discerning and sophisticated audience, since they now have access to such a plethora of content.”
