STUDIOCANAL Gears Up for MIPTV with Section Zéro, The Five & More

PARIS: STUDIOCANAL’s drama series Section Zéro is being featured at the inaugural MIPDrama Screenings, in addition to a range of other highlighted activities the company will be involved in at the market.

The eight-part political sci-fi thriller from César-nominated writer and director Olivier Marchal (Braquo) will screen on April 3. Section Zéro, produced by EuropaCorp Television, Bad Company and Umedia for CANAL+, is one of 12 fiction series selected to screen as part of the MIPDrama Screenings. The show is set in the near future, when multi-national corporations are the new leaders in Europe.

At MIPTV, STUDIOCANAL is also presenting several other drama series, including Harlan Coben’s The Five. The ten-part thriller is the first original story Coben has written exclusively for the screen. The company’s drama slate also includes Baron Noir and Midnight Sun.

Additionally, Rola Bauer, CEO and partner at TANDEM Productions and a STUDIOCANAL executive, will receive a Medaille d’Honneur for her outstanding contributions to the international television business and development of the global TV community. Bauer, who recently took on an expanded role to lead all of STUDIOCANAL’s production and co-production TV activities in the U.S. market, will participate in an International Co-Production Summit session on international drama development at MIPTV on April 4.

Katrina Neylon, the executive VP of sales and marketing at STUDIOCANAL, commented, “We are extremely pleased to have such a full and varied program of events and launches at MIPTV. Our new programming is created by leading talent across all disciplines and continues to deliver our signature blend of contemporary story lines and high-quality production values with global appeal. We’re looking forward to introducing Harlan Coben to our clients in Cannes and we’re all very proud to see Rola receive such a well-deserved accolade from members of the industry that she has done so much to enhance and develop over many years.”
