STARZPLAY Pacts with France Télévisions & Fremantle for Ouija

STARZPLAY has partnered with France Télévisions and Fremantle for the French-language drama Ouija, from co-creators Thomas Bourguignon and Jörg Winger.

Focusing on the events of a French-German school exchange in rural France during the 1982 World Cup, the six-episode series follows characters from three generations—one who fought during World War II, one who rebuilt Europe during the Cold War and one enjoying the peace and prosperity of the 1980s—who investigate a tragedy that took place in 1944. Ouija stars French actors Ophelia Kolb and Bruno Solo, alongside German actors Katharina Schüttler and Stefan Konarske.

Ouija is filming in Nice, France, and its surrounding area, Gorges du Verdon. It is executive produced by Winger (Deutschland83/86/89, Hackerville, SOKO Leipzig) for Big Window and Stéphanie Carrère for Kwaï (Baron Noir, The Last Wave, A son). Thomas Sarbacher, Ruben Meiller, Eloïse Rey, Victor Lefebvre, Patrick Mille, Anne Le Ny, Matthias Van Khache, Catherine Mouchet, Raphaëlle Agogué, Emilia Pieske, Célia Lebrument, Leyla Rink, Manu Libert and Anton Petzold also star in the series.

From Kwaï and Big Window (part of UFA Fiction), Ouija marks the first co-production between the two Fremantle companies and is STARZPLAY’s second French-language co-production. It will be released for first run in Germany and German-speaking Europe, including Switzerland, Austria and Luxembourg, Spain and the Nordics and second-run distribution in France.
