Star Trek Highlights for Comic-Con 2016

NEW YORK: There will be a massive Star Trek presence at this year’s Comic-Con International, where highlights include a number of panels, events, activations and merchandise exclusives spotlighting the 50-year-old franchise.

Star Trek: Celebrating 50 Years will see William Shatner, Scott Bakula, Michael Dorn, Jeri Ryan and Brent Spiner participate in a featured panel presented by CBS and moderated by new series executive producer Bryan Fuller on July 23 at 2 p.m. The other panels to be held at the convention are Trek Talks: Science, Smithsonian and Star Trek (July 22 at 6:30 p.m.), Star Trek: The Roddenberry Vault (July 23 at 12:30 p.m.), Trek Talks: Star Trek & NASA Boldly Go (July 23 at 6 p.m.), Star Trek The Official Starships Collection: Designing and Filming Starships (July 23 at 3 p.m.) and Star Trek: Five Decades of Comics (July 22 at 1:30 p.m.).

The 50 Artists. 50 Years. art exhibit will feature a variety of Star Trek-themed works by 50 artists from around the world. The free exhibit will be open from July 21 to 23 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., and on July 24 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. MAC Cosmetics will be showcasing a new makeup line inspired by the women of Star Trek. The 25-piece collection, which is being presented six weeks before its official launch, includes lipstick, nail polish and eyeshadow.

There will also be exclusive Star Trek merchandise on offer, including the debut of a Mega Blok mini-Enterprise in red, yellow and blue. CBS will distribute free limited edition collector’s lapel pins featuring the logo for the new series that is due to debut next year. Among the many top exclusives and signings that will be available onsite are ANOVOS, DK Publishing, Diamond Select Toys, Eaglemoss, Entertainment Earth, Hallmark, Her Universe, Icon Heroes, IDW Publishing, Light Speed Fine Art and Mattel.
