TORONTO: Shaftesbury has partnered with Sharon Mustos to adapt Ann-Marie MacDonald’s novel Fall on Your Knees into a four-part miniseries for CBC.

The book will be adapted by Adriana Maggs (Rookie Blue, Call Me Fitz, Grown Up Movie Star) and co-produced by Shaftesbury and Mustos’s company, TeamSharon.biz. Mustos, whose credits include Flashpoint, acquired the option to adapt Fall on Your Knees from MacDonald in 2014, and subsequently entered into a co-production deal with Shaftesbury.

“We are delighted to help Sharon bring her passion project to life and to work with Adriana on making the transition from book to screen for this captivating story,” said Christina Jennings, the chairman and CEO of Shaftesbury.

“I am proud to bring this much-loved, acclaimed novel to the screen in partnership with Shaftesbury,” Mustos added. “Celebrating the quiet heroism of women in the face of heartbreak, adversity and the sweeping changes of the early 20th century, Fall on Your Knees is a riveting and remarkable Canadian story.”
