DRG has picked up the rights for The White Wall, a sci-fi drama being produced by Fire Monkey and NICE Drama for SVT in Sweden and YLE in Finland.

Created by Aleksi Salmenperä (A Man’s Job), Mikko Pöllä (Easy Living) and Roope Lehtinen (Black Widows), the series follows the events that unfold after a strange white wall is found deep underground at the mining site of the world’s largest nuclear waste depository. Aksel Hennie (Headhunters, Nobel) leads the cast as project director Lars Rapp, who wants to keep the wall a secret but rumors spread quickly in the small town that has sprung up around the site.

The White Wall is slated for delivery early in 2020. DRG will begin presales at NATPE.

Dave Clarke, DRG’s executive VP of content, commented: “The White Wall is set to be one of the most exciting and ambitious scripted series to come out of Scandinavia in recent years. Its unique storyline, containing universal themes about relationships and human curiosity, high production values and superb cast will definitely get the series noticed. It will also surprise those who assume that only traditional Scandi noir can succeed internationally. We are looking forward to officially launching the series at NATPE and to start what we predict will be productive conversations about this brilliant title.”

Lehtinen, co-creator and executive producer, added: “After working with DRG on Black Widows and Easy Living and seeing these shows travel the world in both their original versions and as formats, I am delighted to have The White Wall in such safe and experienced hands. Dave and the team have been very supportive of this project from the outset, so we are now hoping for an enthusiastic response from international buyers.”
