LONDON: Channel One in Russia is among the broadcasters to have picked up Andrew Davies‘s adaptation of War and Peace from BBC Worldwide.

In addition to Russia, the series has been sold to multiple territories across Asia, including China (LeEco), Taiwan (ELTA), India (Vuclip), South Korea (KBS and SK) and Philippines (ABS and CBN). It has also sold across Europe, including to France (France 2), Finland (YLE), Norway (NRK), Iceland (RUV), Latvia (LTV) and Ukraine (TRBC).

BBC Worldwide previously presold the drama to Estonia (ETV), Greece (OTE), Lithuania (LNK), Israel (YES), Australia, Benelux (BBC First), Sweden (SVT) and Denmark (TV2). The Weinstein Company licensed the series to the flagship channels of A+E Networks—Lifetime, A&E and HISTORY—in the U.S.

Paul Dempsey, the president global markets at BBC Worldwide, said, “It is fitting that Russian audiences will get the chance to enjoy this thoroughly modern adaptation of Tolstoy’s classic novel. They’ll join millions of viewers around the world who have been enthralled by Andrew Davies’s stunning interpretation of War and Peace.”
