Banijay Rights has closed sales for RFDS across Europe and the Middle East following the series’ second season renewal by Australia’s Seven Network.

The first season of the drama, which portrays the doctors, nurses and pilots of the Royal Flying Doctor Service, has been acquired by Sky Italia (Italy), RTÉ (Ireland), M7 Group (Czech Republic, Slovakia), TV JOJ (Slovakia) and The Walt Disney Company (Africa, the Middle East).

These new agreements follow previous sales to Channel 4 for More 4 in the U.K., PBS in the U.S., TV4 in Sweden, SBS in Belgium, Talpa in the Netherlands and TVNZ in New Zealand.

RFDS is produced by Endemol Shine Australia for Seven Network and 7plus. Production on season two will begin in 2023, with writers Ian Meadows and Claire Phillips returning. Emma Hamilton, Stephen Peacocke, Rob Collins, Justine Clarke, Ash Ricardo, Jack Scott, Sofia Nolan, Rodney Afif, Ash Hodgkinson and Thomas Weatherall are set to reprise their roles.

“The re-commission of this powerful drama will once again chronicle the heroics and extra-ordinary stories of the doctors, nurses and support staff who risk their lives to save others in Australia’s red heart,” said Claire Jago, executive VP of sales and acquisitions for EMEA at Banijay Rights. “We are thrilled this series will continue to delight audiences across Europe and the Middle East.”
