Red Skies, based on the best-selling Israeli novel from Daniel Shinar, premiered on Reshet 13 in Israel to record ratings.

The eight-part series, which takes viewers into the heart of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict by following two best friends who find themselves on opposite sides, achieved the highest ratings in five years on Reshet 13 for a first-prime drama series. It also achieved the highest ratings on-demand for any premiere in Reshet’s history.

Red Skies is created by Ron Leshem (Euphoria, No Man’s Land), Shinar, Daniel Amsel (Euphoria, Valley of Tears), Amit Cohen (No Man’s Land, False Flag) and director Alon Zingman (Shtisel). It is produced by Yoav Gross (Carthago, Manayek), alongside executive producers Len Blavatnik and Danny Cohen of Access Entertainment.

The series has already been renewed for a second season.

“We are fortunate to receive this tremendous acceptance in Israel,” Leshem said. “Red Skies has reached virtually every home in Israel, becoming a true event. It’s today’s watercooler talk when we thought these days were gone. Being accepted to international festivals in France, Germany and India, the team and I have hopes that Red Skies will reach the hearts of millions globally, as it is already doing locally.”

Gross added, “Red Skies is a show that took us on an amazing journey. It’s wonderful to see how the show immediately became the talk of the day in every home in Israel and the most-watched show on all the platforms where it is broadcast. For me, this is an expression of how trust in the creation and creators can lead to dreams coming true.”
