World Productions has begun filming the second season of ITV’s medical thriller Malpractice, with Helen Behan (The Virtues, Elizabeth is Missing) and Jordan Kouamé (Scoop) reprising their roles.

Behan and Kouamé return as doctors of the Medical Investigation Unit, who are brought in to investigate Dr. James Ford, a psychiatric registrar accused of malpractice. Ford’s colleagues find him to be arrogant, but he appears committed to his vulnerable patients.

Throughout their investigation, Behan and Kouamé’s characters uncover a hospital that is seemingly at war with itself, and they must determine whether Ford is a doctor with a God complex or a victim of wider problems.

Joining Behan and Koumé in the cast for season two are Tom Hughes (Victoria, The English), Selin Hizli (Am I Being Unreasonable, Mum), Zoë Telford (Sherlock, The Lazarus Project), Hannah McClean (Blue Lights, Josh), Seraphina Beh (Polite Society, Top Boy) and Ace Bhatti (Line of Duty, Bohemian Rhapsody).

The first three episodes of the season are being directed by Anthony Philipson (Day of the Jackal, The Last Kingdom), and episodes four and five are being directed by Jennifer Sheridan (Extraordinary, Rules of the Game). Chrissy Skinns (A Spy Among Friends, Elizabeth is Missing) is serving as a producer.

Malpractice is produced in association with and distributed internationally by ITV Studios.

“I’m thrilled to be bringing back a second series of Malpractice,” said executive producer and writer Grace Ofori-Attah. “This time, I’m excited to be delving into the world of psychiatry, my medical specialty, with an incredible cast led by Tom Hughes and fantastic crew led by Anthony Philipson. I can’t wait to get started.”

“Grace has delved even deeper into her personal history as a consultant psychiatrist to deliver both a brilliant thriller and timely look at a critical area of the NHS,” commented Simon Heath, CEO of World Productions. “Her great writing has once again attracted a stellar cast to join Helen and Jordan to tell this new story.”
