Prime Video has picked up the exclusive rights to launch Nautilus in the U.K. and Ireland, after Disney+ abandoned the series last year as part of its strategy to cut costs.

The ten-episode live-action show, inspired by Jules Verne’s Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, tells the origin story of Captain Nemo, an Indian prince robbed of his birthright and family who steals a submarine and escapes into the Indian Ocean to enact revenge on the East India Mercantile Company. It will launch in the U.K. and Ireland on October 25.

Nautilus stars Shazad Latif, Georgia Flood, Thierry Fremont and Céline Menville, with guest appearances from Richard E. Grant, Anna Torv and Noah Taylor. It is written by James Dormer. Michael Matthews serves as lead director, while Ben Lucas and Isabelle Sieb directed later episodes.

The series is developed and produced by Moonriver TV’s Xavier Marchand and Seven Stories’ Anand Tucket. Executive producers are Dormer, Johanna Devereaux, Chris Loveall, Colleen Woodcock and Daisy Gilbert.

Prime Video has secured the rights to Nautilus in the U.K. and Ireland through an exclusive deal with Disney Entertainment, which is still distributing the series. The show was picked up by AMC for the U.S.
