LONDON: Hat Trick International has presold the prime-time miniseries Doctor Thorne to a number of territories, including Israel and New Zealand.

The 3×1-hour period drama is based on the novel by Anthony Trollope and has been adapted for television by Julian Fellowes (Downton Abbey, Gosford Park). The miniseries has been picked up by VRT in Belgium, DR Byen in Denmark, UTV in Ireland, yes Satellite Services in Israel, Prime in New Zealand and SVT in Sweden. Doctor Thorne has already been licensed for the U.S. and Canada by The Weinstein Company.

Sarah Tong, the director of sales at Hat Trick International, commented: “Doctor Thorne has received a great deal of interest from the outset and we are delighted to announce these presales ahead of MIP. The unique combination of the original Trollope story together with Julian Fellowes’ first-class adaptation and input from the production team at Hat Trick has delivered a miniseries, which will no doubt become a classic. We are looking forward to screening episodes of the drama to our clients in Cannes.”
