FremantleMedia International has licensed Picnic at Hanging Rock into Germany, where Deutsche Telekom’s EntertainTV will deliver it to audiences later this year.

Deutsche Telekom acquired the German rights to the FremantleMedia Australia-produced series, which stars Natalie Dormer (Game of Thrones, The Hunger Games: MockingjayParts 1 and 2). The deal follows the six-part drama’s official selection at the upcoming Berlinale Series festival.

“We’re proud to partner with Deutsche Telekom to bring Picnic at Hanging Rock to EntertainTV in Germany,” said Maximilian Bolenius, the senior VP of German-speaking Europe and Israel for FremantleMedia International. “The drama has been selected to open the upcoming Berlin International Film Festival’s TV section, a huge testament to series’ quality. We are very impressed by the content strategy, exposure and marketing opportunities that Deutsche Telekom provide with EntertainTV and believe it is the ideal launch platform for this creatively extraordinary series in Germany.”

“We are pleased to add Picnic at Hanging Rock, another high-class TV series, to the EntertainTV series portfolio,” said Wolfgang Elsäßer, the head of the business unit for TV and entertainment at Deutsche Telekom. “We thank our partner FremantleMedia International for the good cooperation. This year, our customers can expect to see the miniseries that is receiving a lot of praise from the critics. The international premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival is a very promising start. We are convinced that the series will be successful in Germany.”
