Onza Closes Sales in Europe & Africa

Onza Distribution has closed deals for a slew of titles from its scripted catalog in Portugal, Romania, Croatia, Latvia and Mozambique.

Portugal’s RTP and Romania’s AntenaPLAY licensed the thriller series Heartless, which follows a ruthless kidnapper who targets the business elite of Madrid and tortures them with cruel psychological games.

RTP and AntenaPLAY also both acquired the Italian series Flowers Over the Inferno, including ts new second season, Sleeping Nymph, which Onza Distribution added to its catalog at MIPCOM. Based on the best-seller from Ilaria Tuti, the thriller follows the profiler Teresa Battaglia as she solves crimes in the Alps while battling Alzheimer’s at an early stage. In the upcoming second season, a young police officer is found dead after investigating her father’s alleged crime.

The TVI telenovela Cacao, centers on a young woman whose life takes a dramatic turn when she discovers that her real father is the owner of the cocoa farm she lives on, has been picked up HRT in Croatia.

Onza Distribution also secured deals for other TVI telenovelas, with Latvia’s Hello Media acquiring Forever and Value of Life to air in Mozambique soon.

Allende, The 1000 Days, which dramatizes the final years of Chilean president Salvador Allende’s life, was sold to Canais TVCine (NOS) in Portugal. The four-parter is produced by Chilean company Parox.

Additionally, the six-part comedy Traffic Jam, which unites some of Spain’s top comedians, was licensed by Romania’s AntenaPLAY. It depicts a traffic jam that disrupts the plans of thousands of citizens—thieves who won’t make it to the jewelry store they plan to rob, a couple crisis between two crane operators, an ambulance driver desperately seeking a bathroom and a food truck that won’t reach its destination.
