Netflix Stocks Up on Turkish Dramas

ISTANBUL: Netflix has licensed a package of Turkish drama series, including Black Money Love, from ITV Inter Medya.

In the drama Black Money Love, a young cop and the daughter of a tycoon are connected by a violent crime involving their loved ones. The story features both romance and mystery.

Also part of the Netflix deal are 20 Minutes and Behzat C. Rounding out the package is Love Is in the Air, in which two sisters—one naïve and sad, the other proud and passionate—fall in love with the same wealthy, self-confident and successful man.

Can Okan, the founder and CEO of ITV Inter Medya, said: “We have the worldwide distribution rights for these four dramas and the deal we made with Netflix is global. Among our top-selling dramas, we believe that these products will be watched in countries and regions where Turkish drama series and Turkish feature films have not yet entered. We hope that Netflix’s wide reach will pave the way into some of these territories. We are very happy and excited that our products will be featured on a platform that holds millions of viewers from around the world. We are currently negotiating with other platforms and will be pleased to share with you once we receive positive results.”
