Netflix Scores New Nippon TV Rom-Com

Netflix has clinched a global deal with Nippon TV for the new rom-com Turn to me Mukai-kun.

Netflix Japan will launch the series on July 12, immediately after it airs in prime time on Nippon TV. The manga-based series will also air on Netflix around the world, and will stream on Hulu Japan immediately following the linear broadcast.

 

Adapted from the award-winning manga by Yoko Nemu, the romance drama stars Eiji Akaso as a 33-year-old man looking for love as he reconnects with an old flame.

 

Keisuke Miyata, head of sales, global business at Nippon TV, commented: “It is the first time that our prime-time series will stream on Netflix in Japan immediately after Nippon TV’s prime-time air slot, with global streaming to follow, marking a groundbreaking moment. With the talented Eiji Akaso starring as the lead in this rom-com series, I am confident that viewers worldwide will fall in love with this captivating romance drama.”
