AMSTERDAM: Netflix has acquired the global rights, excluding Benelux, for the Dutch World War II thriller Riphagen.

Dutch Features licensed the film to the streaming platform for all its international markets outside of Benelux. The crime thriller, which stars Jeroen van Koningsbrugge, is based on the life of Andries ‘Al Capone’ Riphagen, a boxer, black-market dealer, pimp and a fervent Jew hunter. Riphagen thought he was untouchable, until a young policeman, Jan van Liempd, embarked on a mission to hunt him down.

In addition to Riphagen, Dutch Features licensed the Dutch box-office hits Bon Bini Holland and A Noble Intention, the Croatian drama You Carry Me and the Israeli thriller Suicide to Netflix.

“The scope of the acquired rights is unique. Never before has Netflix acquired all worldwide rights (excl. Benelux) to a Dutch film,” said Pim van Collem, the CEO of Dutch Features Global Entertainment. “The fact that Netflix took the decision to purchase the film even before it was finished is a great milestone for our company and for Dutch films.”
