BOGOTÁ: Netflix has signed a licensing agreement for two in-development series from Colombia’s Caracol Televisión, including a Pablo Escobar drama.

Through the deal, the titles will be available exclusively to Netflix subscribers in Latin America, the U.S., Canada, Spain, Portugal and Andorra within the next year. Those series are Sobreviviendo a Pablo Escobar, about the leader of the notorious drug lord’s hit-men squadron, and The Girl (La Niña), which follows a child who was forcefully recruited by a Colombian guerrilla group.

Additionally, Caracol has licensed its historical drama The White Slave (La Esclava Blanca) to Netflix as part of this agreement. Caracol Internacional represents these titles.

“We are very proud to celebrate this agreement with Netflix; thanks to the high standards of our productions, we are able to keep up with the industry’s vanguard,” said Gonzalo Cordoba, the president of Caracol Televisión. “[This] confirms we are leaders in production and world distribution of content in Spanish.”

Lisette Osorio, Caracol’s VP of international sales, added: “This alliance is the proof of the commitment that Caracol Televisión has to its audience and international clients. With this type of negotiation, we confirm the leadership we maintain in the world, where we are renowned for our offer in innovative series, with appealing plot lines and with the highest production standards.”
