The latest installment of Narcos, which Gaumont is highlighting at NATPE, switches its focus from the Colombian cocaine trade to Mexico’s cannabis trade and the Guadalajara Cartel.

“Although in a new location, the storytelling, production values and equally talented new cast continue to captivate,” says Vanessa Shapiro, president of worldwide television distribution and co-production for Gaumont.

El Chapo, another title exploring the illicit drug trade, dives into kingpin Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán’s life story. Meanwhile, Nox is a crime drama centering on a woman forced out of retirement as a Parisian cop when her daughter goes missing in the mysterious underworld of the City of Lights’ tunnels. “With two strong female leads, Nox delivers what audiences are looking for: a nail-biting thriller with an outstanding cast and suspenseful plot,” says Shapiro.

She adds, “Local-language production is a key focus for us overall and will remain so in 2019.”
