Made Up Stories Adapting The Soulmate

Made Up Stories (Nine Perfect Strangers) has teamed up with Imogen Banks (Offspring, Fake), Asher Keddie (Strife, Offspring) and Fiona Seres (Tangle, The Great) for an adaptation of Sally Hepworth’s The Soulmate.

The best-selling novel centers on couple Pippa and Gabe, who live on what would be a picturesque cliffside home if the cliffs weren’t a popular destination for those wishing to end their lives. Gabe talks seven people down from stepping off the edge, but when he fails to save the eighth, a web of secrets begins to unravel.

Bruna Papandrea, Steve Hutensky and Katie Amos will executive produce for Made Up Stories, alongside Banks for Kindling Pictures and Keddie, Hepworth, Rob Weisbach and Seres. Seres will also serve as writer and showrunner.

Made Up Stories said, “What a privilege to partner again with the incomparable Sally Hepworth for The Soulmate, which for us combines an intoxicating conceit with undeniable characters in Pippa, Gabe and Amanda,” Made Up Stories said. “Alongside friends and frequent collaborators Asher Keddie, Imogen Banks and Rob Weisbach, we are absolutely thrilled to develop this captivating adaptation of The Soulmate with the wildly talented Fiona Seres and cannot wait to bring this enthralling interrogation of love’s complexities to audiences.”

Hepworth commented, “There’s a kind of magic in finding creative partners who are as passionate about your story as you are. That’s what I’ve found with Bruna, Steve, Katie and the team at Made Up Stories. I’m so excited to be collaborating with them and with Imogen, Asher, Rob and Fiona to adapt The Soulmate—a novel that strives to dig deep into the layered, complicated truths about marriage, loyalty and the secrets we keep from the people we love most.”
