Critical Content has optioned the TV rights to produce and adapt a limited series based on Ursula K. Le Guin’s award-winning sci-fi novel The Left Hand of Darkness.

The Left Hand of Darkness tells the story of a lone human emissary’s mission to Winter, an alien world whose inhabitants have a complex and androgynous sexuality, in an effort to integrate the society into a growing intergalactic civilization. The book was published in 1969, and in 1970 won both the Hugo and Nebula Awards for best novel.

Tom Forman, Andrew Marcus and Ray Ricord will executive produce, with Le Guin serving as a consulting producer.
