CANNES: A raft of presales have been signed by ITV Studios Global Entertainment (ITVS GE) across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Canada for the new period drama Victoria.

Victoria premiered to the global market at MIPTV during the MIPDrama Screenings yesterday. The eight-part drama series has been acquired across the Nordics by Sweden’s TV4, Norway’s NRK, DR in Denmark and Finland’s YLE, as well as by NPO in the Netherlands. The series was also picked up by YES in Israel, ITV Choice across Africa and by Zoomer Media’s Vision TV in Canada.

These new deals follow the announcement that the drama is set to air in the U.S. on Masterpiece on PBS in the time slot previously held by Downton Abbey.

Maria Kyriacou, the president of international at ITV Studios, said: “Produced by Mammoth Screen, the creators of the global smash hit Poldark and written by acclaimed novelist Daisy Goodwin, Victoria has all the qualities to appeal to an international audience: a compelling and true story, a wonderful cast led by Jenna Coleman and incredible writing, all captured in a lavish production. Our partners across EMEA and Canada have been quick to acquire the series and we expect further substantial international interest here at MIPTV.”
