ITV Commissions More Trigger Point

ITV has commissioned a third season of the bomb disposal series Trigger Point, with Vicky McClure to reprise her lead role.

In season three, explosives officer Lana Washington and her team will be called to investigate a bomb threat that soon reveals itself to be the start of a sinister vendetta targeting individuals. Washington and the bomb disposal team will have to race against time to find the bomber before they claim their next victim.

Alongside McClure, Eric Shango (On The Edge), Nabil Elouahabi (Blue Lights, Unforgotten), Natalie Simpson (North Sea Connection) and Maanuv Thiara (DI Ray, Landscapers) will be returning for the third season.

Trigger Point is produced by Jed Mercurio’s HTM Television. The lead writer for the third season is Chris Brandon (Bloodlands), and Jamie Donoghue (Doctor Who, A Discovery of Witches) and Audrey Cooke (Trigger Point, DI Ray) will direct.

Executive producers of the series are Mercurio (Line of Duty, Breathtaking), Daniel Walker (The Tourist, Boat Story), Jessica Sharkey (Breathtaking, Derry Girls), Brandon and McClure.

The series is produced in association with All3Media International, which handles distribution internationally.

“I am delighted that Trigger Point will be returning for a third series and Vicky McClure will be reprising her role as Lana Washington,” said Polly Hill, head of drama at ITV. “The whole cast are amazing in this series, and HTM are a great team to work with. There are going to be lots more twists and turns and, of course, explosions in this third series. Viewers are going to love it!”

“Thank you to all the Trigger Point viewers who have made the series such a success,” Mercurio commented. “Thanks to our fantastic crew and brilliant cast led by the amazing Vicky McClure. We’re thrilled ITV, together with All3Media International, have commissioned a third season of twists, turns, bangs and blasts.”

McClure added, “Trigger Point is back! We’re all so excited to get going. Having had such a positive response to the previous two series, we want to make the next series even more exciting, keeping everyone on the edge of their seats whilst getting to know even more about the brilliant characters in the show. Lana is such a complex character to play; it’s a joy for an actor to play a role with as many layers as Lana.”
