The Turkish feature film Miracle in Cell No. 7 has been added to Inter Medya’s feature film catalog.

A remake of a 2013 South Korean film of the same name, the Turkish adaptation of Miracle in Cell No. 7 is set in the early 1980s during Turkey’s coup d’état period, telling the story of a shepherd named Memo who lives happily with his little daughter and grandmother in a small Aegean town. When Memo is framed with the murder of the martial law commander’s daughter, his simple life is turned upside down.

Distributed worldwide by Inter Medya, Miracle in Cell No. 7 was first released in Turkish theaters in October of last year, positioning itself as the most-watched movie of the year by reaching more than 5.3 million viewers. The film is now streaming on Netflix and held the number one spot on the service’s Top 10 trending movies in the U.S. and in France.

Can Okan, founder and CEO of Inter Medya, said: “Miracle in Cell No. 7 is an important addition to our catalog with a huge potential for both theatrical and linear distribution. We are currently in conversation with a number of clients around the world and hope to close some deals in due course.”
