UNIVERSAL CITY: Universal Cable Productions (UCP) has teamed up with Hypnotic to develop The Increment, based on the New York Times best-selling novel of the same name written by David Ignatius, with Gideon Raff (Homeland) set to write and direct the series.

The Increment is told from the points of view of CIA officer Harry Pappas as he sets out to identify the sender of an encrypted message coming from inside one of Iran’s nuclear facilities, and Karim Molavi, an Iranian scientist driven to betray his country in order to protect it from itself. The story also focuses on the U.K. black ops unit known as “The Increment,” a collection of agents—Arab, Pakistani and Iranian operatives—who can penetrate terror organizations and enemy states. A cat-and-mouse game plays out between the Revolutionary Guard and the Western agencies.

“David Ignatius’s novel is a gripping, edge-of-your seat tale of deceit and revenge with fascinating characters and intricate landscapes,” said Dawn Olmstead, the executive VP of development at Universal Cable Productions. “We look forward to collaborating with Gideon Raff and Hypnotic as we bring this highly suspenseful thriller to life on the small screen.”
