A Hindi remake of the Turkish drama Ezel, locally titled Gunaah, has premiered on Disney+ Hotstar, with new episodes dropping every weekday.

Starring Gashmeer Mahajani, Gunaah follows the story of Abhimanyu, who embarks on a journey of vengeance after a betrayal. The scripted format is represented by Eccho Rights.

The Indian remake also stars Surbhi Jyoti and Zayn Ibad Khan. It marks the first deal with Disney+ Hotstar for Eccho Rights and Ay Yapim. Eccho Rights will be distributing the readymade rights for Gunaah outside of India.

The original Turkish production, created in 2009, was produced by Kerem Catay for Ay Yapim. It was written by Pinar Bulut and Kerem Deren.

Eccho Rights has also licensed the format in Mexico, Russia, Armenia and Romania.

“Time and again, Ezel has shown to be one of the most enthralling titles in the international drama market, both as a readymade but also with the script having been licensed the world over by broadcasters and producers looking for a drama that ticks all the boxes—action, romance, thrills and heartbreak,” said Melis Hamamcioglu, director of digital media acquisition and content sales at Eccho Rights. “It is a unique story that will continue to thrill audiences for years to come!”
